Teak is an extremely dense  hard wood with a high natural oil content that makes it the most resistant wood on the planet in terms of  rot from either water or insects (they don' t seem to like the taste of all that oil). Teak is  also a very durable wood that can last for decades. In fact, there are teak benches in England and India that are more then a century old, and still being used everyday in public parks.
